How Our Postoperative Care Process Works
-
In your surgical consultation, you’ll review details, risks, benefits, medications, and pre-/post-op expectations. In our consultation, we’ll discuss your upcoming surgery, answer questions, and build a personalized plan that supports your comfort, safety, and recovery goals. Together, we ensure you feel fully prepared and confident for your surgical day.
-
Most plastic and cosmetic surgeons require a responsible adult caregiver for the first 24 hours after surgery. At your preop appointment with your surgeon’s team, you’ll review procedure details, complete consents, discuss medications, receive any labs, and go over pre- and postoperative instructions. After that, we’ll meet for your personalized pre-service session to review your surgeon’s guidance, clarify your medication schedule, set expectations, and tailor your recovery plan, including how much care you may need.
-
Nursing care is typically requested for 6–24 hours after surgery, depending on discharge time, procedure type, caregiver availability, and your comfort managing early recovery. Our goal is to support you through this transition and ensure your healing begins safely and comfortably.
On surgery day, we can either privately transport you from the facility or meet you at your recovery location—home, hotel, or Airbnb. Your nurse coordinates directly with the surgical team for a smooth, detailed handoff.
Once you're settled, your nurse provides attentive, personalized care, which may include vital sign monitoring, incision care, medication reminders, mobility support, garment and hygiene assistance, complication monitoring, emotional reassurance, light housekeeping, pet care, and meal support. We also remain in close communication with your surgical team to ensure continuity of care.
-
If your nursing care concludes the evening of surgery or early the next morning, it's important to know that most surgeons request a follow-up visit on postoperative day one. We’re here to make that process easier by offering safe, private transport to and from your surgeon’s office. If you’d like continued support afterward, we’re happy to provide extended nursing care to ensure you feel comfortable, cared for, and confident as you continue healing.
How Concierge Nursing Can Enhance Your Recovery
Monitoring & Early Detection
Our nurses closely monitor vital signs and symptoms, allowing early detection of complications such as infections, hematomas, or poor wound healing. Early intervention reduces risks and complications, facilitating quicker and safer recoveries.
Improved Pain Management
Our nurses support medication reminders to promote adequate pain control, which decreases stress hormones (cortisol and adrenaline), thereby improving immune function, sleep quality, and reducing the overall inflammatory response—all vital for accelerated healing.
Reduced Stress & Anxiety
Individualized emotional and psychological support has been shown to lower stress levels significantly. Stress reduction directly correlates with improved wound healing, lower inflammation, better sleep, and fewer postoperative complications.
Compliance & Education
Clients who understand and adhere closely to preoperative and postoperative instructions (medication, activity limitations, wound care, etc.) have demonstrably fewer complications. Our concierge nurses educate patients, as directed by their surgeon, to enhance adherence and thus promote optimal healing
Better Nutrition & Hydration
Our concierge nurses encourage proper nutritional intake, emphasizing protein, vitamins (e.g., Vitamin C, Zinc), and adequate hydration, all scientifically validated factors for improving wound healing and recovery.
Personalized Mobility Support
Early mobilization, tailored and supervised by concierge nurses, can significantly reduce risks of thromboembolism, pneumonia, and accelerate return to normal physiological function.
Reduced stress: Studies have demonstrated that reducing patient anxiety postoperatively significantly improves wound healing (Broadbent et al., 2003; Walburn et al., 2009).Pain management: Effective pain control significantly enhances immune response and speeds tissue regeneration (Page et al., 2018).Early mobilization: Early ambulation after surgery is scientifically validated to improve surgical outcomes, reduce hospital stays, and prevent complications (Castelino et al., 2016).Nutrition: Adequate nutrition and hydration correlate directly with faster recovery, fewer complications, and quicker wound closure (Ellis et al., 2018).
